Handheld to Superscale
The Building Centre, London
Client: Built Environment Trust
Handheld to Superscale explored the close connection between hand-held ceramic objects and large-scale urban interventions – from the glazed household items that inspire whole building facades to the manufacturers using scaled-up processes familiar to studio potters.
Both traditional production methods and innovative technology are equally embraced in the show, with hand-crafted pieces sitting alongside mass ceramic production and robotic technology.
Several case study projects were selected by the curatorial team and brought in to the centre of the space for a more in depth focus. These were surrounded by a glossary to the medium alongside a supporting wall based projects to further ground the discipline. The objects needed to be visible from all angles whilst being secure.
